It is suppose to be effective Feb. 28th, this happened yesterday 01/22/07 This is complete crap. Storger is a moron. Now my parents are looking to sell their house and move to a condo cause they wont beable to afford to live in a house. Good job cutting the budget, how about you stop and think before reacting. Like pay cuts maybe on the Top guys that are making 200-300k a year for sitting on their butt. Or getting rid of 5 million dollar a year contracts for computer repairs and just hire a IT guy. Oh here's one....get rid of the people stealing money and that are on ghost pay rolls. Oh wait thats probably Stroger himself. I hate politics noting but criminals and looking out for themselfs. Instead, Ed Burnette has shown that he does not know what the core mission is for this office in his first budget proposal to layoff the attorneys who work the front lines. His former military training is reflected in his initial strategy to sacrifice the front line troops rather than his own downtown support staff who have never entered a courtroom. By his own admission, his initial budget reflected shallow thinking rather than creative, productive cost cutting measures such as elimination of multiple layers of management. eg. 3 deputys, multiple directors, recently created 16th floor policy positions. As the commander in chief, he should have eliminated his own staff on the 16th floor such as payroll and human resources since other departments reporting to the President's Office are consolidating these departments with the county's.
