Chief Judge Timothy Evans entered an order on 2/20/08 that keeps essential services (courts, jail and hospitals) functioning despite the budget impasse.

Having just returned from the County Board Meeting on Thursday night which was recessed until 10 am on Friday, I can tell you that there were many questions posed to ASA Driscoll in regards to appearing before a judge on Saturday (holiday bond court??) and asking for a an order
to keep the county running. It's obviously going down to
the wire and I encourage all members, their friends and family to tell the commissioners to not make cuts, raise revenue and fix the hospital mess.

I don't think that anyone knows what would happen if all the suburban court houses were to close per Todd's threat. I think its fair to say that per our negotiated union contract we show up to work and they continue to pay. The executive board of our Local and the union staff continue to lobby and monitor the situation. Please let your voice be heard by your commissioners.

What happens if county has no budget passed by next week? Do we show up for work? Will we get checks on 3/7?

I just wanted to say thank you to the local union leadership for attempting to get meeting with the Editorial Board of the tribune. Your efforts are NOT going un-noticed. Keep up the good work!
