The union has confirmed that the notice, given by the President of the Cook County Board to Edwin Burnette regarding the proposed resolution, has been withdrawn. A new date and time will be set and when and if it is, we will inform the membership on this blog.
DO NOT ATTEND THE MEETING ON APRIL 9, 2008 BECAUSE THE PROPOSED RESOLUTION WILL NOT BE HEARD ON THAT DATE.

Are you sure that this is not a ruse to keep us from attending in droves?

It’s no ruse.

Okay, thanks:)

Aren’t we owed a raise? Isn’t our contract set to expire? Didn’t this Union endorse John Stroger in the last Primary and Todd Stroger in the last General Election? Doesn’t Burnette’s contract expire in May of 2009? Burnette should be able to get enough continuances at the Board to serve out his term, and this Union can focus on the monies owed to us and our next contract. While Ed Burnette is Stroger’s latest “martyr”, it would appear that the rank and file of this Union ought to become more politically active in their own communities. Sitting around offices acting like aggrieved victims of evil conspiracies really doesn’t cut it.

I think the pending retirement of Woody Jordan has far more impact on the rank and file than the Stroger-Burnette Furlough Follies.

Will AFSCME give us placards reading: ‘ONE MORE YEAR’ when we all go down to protest at the County Board???

Are you really a PD “Justice Cardozo”? I doubt it.
Bottom line is that we need to stick together especially with another round of contract negotiaitons coming up.
With rumblings about being required to work 40 hours per week and more outside legal employment restrictions, I would hope we can all be on the same page. Hopefully, sufficient Union pressure can be placed on Stroger so we can get our double digit COLAs — mabye 13%-15% over 4 years this time. This time we need to make sure that part of the agreement is no automatic equivalent COLA for states attorneys.

Justice Cardozo sounds a lot like a very seasoned PD also know as “Aggravated White Sox Fan Bob” to me. Just a guess from a gray beard. Re our raise…rumor has it it will appear in our next check. I agree with the old White Sox fan that our local members need to be more politically active if they expect the union to have any real power or if we expect anything decent out of our next contract.
GO SOX

I think Ed Burnette is a Gentleman who has his heart in the right place.
I have no problem with the rank and file of this Union supporting him in this fight with Stroger.
I have to wonder how he could allow his ‘court’ Downtown to set him up like King Louis XVI.
Since the Jackson Family is engaged in a TAKE NO PRISONERS battle with Stroger and Beavers….Ed Burnette should have aligned himself with the Rev., Congressman and Alderwoman.
Richard J. Daley told us “Don’t Back No Losers” and Harold Washington told us “Politics ain’t Beanbag.”
Burnette needs MUSCLE in this mess.

Is it appropriate for the IACDL to solicit from Local 3315 a financial contribution to assist Steve Baker in his work in Springfield?
